Accessibility statement
What AATAX does to be usable by everyone, where it falls short today, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
Using AATAX
This statement applies to the AATAX website at aatax.ai and the AATAX Making Tax Digital software for agents and individual taxpayers. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
We have designed AATAX so that you can:
- navigate using just a keyboard, with a visible focus indicator and a "Skip to content" link
- use a screen reader: form fields have labels, pages use headings and landmarks, and icons that carry meaning have text alternatives
- zoom in using your browser; layouts reflow to a single column on small screens
- read text with sufficient colour contrast against its background
- turn off animation using your device’s reduced-motion setting
- complete tasks without time limits, apart from one-time sign-in codes, which expire for security reasons and can be resent
How accessible AATAX is
AATAX is partially compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA. We know some parts are not yet fully accessible:
- some data tables and charts in the signed-in workspace may be difficult to use with a screen reader
- some documents you or your clients upload, such as scanned PDFs, may not be accessible; we cannot control the accessibility of uploaded files
- some pages hosted by HMRC, which you are sent to when you connect your HMRC account, are outside our control
Reporting accessibility problems
If you find a problem that is not listed on this page, or you need information in a different format, email hello@aatax.ai with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page and what you were trying to do. We will reply within 5 working days.
How we tested AATAX
We last tested AATAX on 25 September 2026. We used automated testing (axe-core, against WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules) on the public website, sign-in, registration and demo request pages, at desktop and mobile widths, and fixed the issues found. We are continuing to test the signed-in workspace and will update this statement as we do.
Preparation of this statement
This statement was prepared on 25 September 2026. We will review it at least every 12 months, and whenever we make significant changes to AATAX.
